There’s still talking about the shutdown of the work release program at the CorrectionsCenter of northwest Ohio. Executive Director Jim Dennis reports that program is not cost effective; and other means have more security. This program use to average about 75 to 80 on work release per day. But that number is now down under 10 per day.
The GPS system now being employed at CCNO tracks the inmates location at all times. There is also a program that ensures participants are not using alcohol.
This week’s total population at the regional jail was 518, which is 81% of capacity. Officials were told they will likely have to come-up with new revenue for capital improvement projects at the jail, due to federal laws that will likely reduce charges for inmates telephone calls. That had been a major revenue producer for CCNO.
