Residents in the village of Deshler will have to keep their properties up to certain standards, after passage of an ordinance this week.   That legislation requires residents to keep weeds and grass under 8 inches in height.   If a violation occurs, the housing code administrator would leave a notice of response.   And the property owner would have 5 days to rectify the situation.   If no action takes place, the village of Deshler would trim the grass or weeds, and then send a bill to the resident.

Deshler Council has approved a grant application through the Ohio Public Works Commission, seeking a half-million dollars for improvements to the village lagoon system.                        Another grant application has been filed, to help pay for costs associated with removal of trees hit by the Emerald Ash Borer.   That application is for $7,000, with the village matching with their own $7,000.

Preparations are underway in Deshler for the annual Corn City Festival this Saturday and Sunday.   Village crews will be spraying for mosquitoes leading up the event.

And Deshler is planning a fishing derby at the reservoir complex on Saturday, September 7th.   That event will run from 1 till 4pm, with registration the day of the derby, which is sponsored by the Deshler Sons of the American Legion.
