EARLY MORNING FIRE AT CAROLYN MILLER HOME

An early morning blaze on the west side of Napoleon today has left a family homeless.   The Napoleon Fire Department was dispatched to the Carolyn Miller home at 718 Erie Street at 12:20am, when flames ignited in a garage, and then spread to the residence.  A barking dog alerted the family to get out of the structure, which is the home of a Red Cross volunteer.

The garage was destroyed in the blaze, and there was extensive damage to the house, with the total loss likely to exceed $100,000.   The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.   No injuries were reported; and crews from Napoleon and Ridgeville township were on the scene for over 6 hours, with about 25 fire-fighters responding.    The local Red Cross is assisting the family in this loss.
