Defiance Local News

A couple of huge projects on the horizon for Henry County were part of the docket for commissioners Thursday.    The Henry County board authorized a contract with Mannik and Smith to tackle the final design for a second bridge over the Maumee River in Napoleon.   That agreement is for just over 1.4 million dollars; and would take the project up toward the start of construction.

The other major project discussed by the Henry County Commissioners was a new water plant that will be constructed in Napoleon, but cooperatively owned by the Henry County Regional Water and Sewer District, along with the village of Liberty Center.  Once a cooperative agreement is signed by all participating entities; the commissioners will put their signatures to the document.   This new water plant would be paid through property assessments over the next few decades.

Commissioners went into executive session twice during their Thursday meeting to discuss personnel and compensation; but no action was taken.

And the Henry County board authorized a payment of $1,950 for asbestos removal in the house on Hill Street in Hamler that is being demolished for the ‘moving Ohio forward program’.
