LIBERTY CENTER SCHOOL BOARD REVIEWS CONSTRUCTION OPTIONS
The LibertyCenter school board of education got a breakdown on the building options from architects for new facilities in the district, during a special meeting Monday night. One option for a new kindergarten through 12th grade building, is a two-story structure at the current school site. But in order to fit it onto the current property, about 18 classrooms would have to be knocked-down to make room, and modular units would be set-up for those classes, during construction. The other option was a one-story new school at an alternative site, due to lack of space at the current property. The LibertyCenter school district will get a chance to vote on this bond issue in the election next May. And the public can get more information on the proposals presented to the school board, at a special presentation at the LibertyCenter public library, tonight at .
In personnel action; the LibertyCenter board approved the job description for a new position of ‘dean of student activities’. The board then approved Pat Leupp for that position, and accepted her resignation from a teaching contract. This makes the athletic director position more of an administrative post, in order to evaluate coaches and impose discipline on athletes, if needed. The board also accepted the resignation of elementary teacher Kennett Kania, effective at the end of the school year, after 15 years of service to the district.
