LONG ELECTED PRESIDENT OF NAPOLEON SCHOOL BD FOR 2014

The leadership on the Napoleon Area School Board of Education will remain the same in 2014.   Larry Long was re-elected as president of the board; with Rob Rettig selected as vice president.   That action took place at the Tuesday night meeting of the board.   And new member Frank Cashman was welcomed to his position on the Napoleon school board.

The Napoleon board did change the date for regular meetings, moving to the third Wednesday of each month at 7pm.

An update on facilities indicates the construction costs for the new elementary and junior high addition have been nailed-down, at 21.7 million dollars for the elementary, and 9.9 million for the junior high addition and high school renovations.  Ground breaking for the new elementary school in Napoleon is tentatively set for March or April of this year.

The latest construction at the high school includes the installation of curtains in the gymnasium to separate the gym floor from the decks.   And construction is now underway in the band and chorus areas of the high school.                         Specs were also finalized for the installation of new visitor’s bleachers at the Napoleon high school football field, estimated to cost $100,000.  The seating will be anywhere from 800 to 900 in that section.

The Napoleon school board approved the installation of a Subway Restaurant inside the high school cafeteria or kitchen area, which will likely open this coming fall.  It would be the first of its kind in Ohio, and offer training opportunities for students.
