NAPOLEON COUNCIL APPROVES SEWER RATE INCREASES AND DOG PARK

A proposal to raise sewer rates for residents in Napoleon was approved by Napoleon city council Monday night.  That first reading calls for a 6% hike for the second half of this year, an 8% rate increase in 2015, and a 10% jump for 2016.  This additional revenue is being requested since Napoleon did not increase rates over the past 16 months.         A proposal to create a sewer repair charge, that would go to residents dealing with problems between the right-of-way and sewer main line was also approved on a first reading.

Napoleon Council has authorized the expenditure of funds for repairs to the boat ramp caused by ice this past winter.   This is likely to cost $75,000.  This resolution is contingent upon a written commitment from the city’s insurance company, to pay for the repairs.

Council gave the city manager authority to contract with ODOT for a bridge inspection program, that is free of charge.

And a proposal from the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, to place a special section for dogs at the EastRiverdownsPark was approved Napoleon Council.   Owners will be required to register their dogs with the city, to gain entry to the park, which will utilize a key-card system.

Napoleon Council went into executive session to discuss building security and pending litigation; but no action was taken.
