A Napoleon police officer sustained injuries during a pursuit in HenryCounty when his vehicle crashed at this morning east of the city. The incident stemmed from a break-in discovered at a business along road O at today. 28 year old Bradley Strickland was pursuing in his police cruiser, when it went out of control on a curve, striking a utility pole and tree. Strickland was transported from the scene by Napoleon Rescue, and taken to the HenryCountyHospital. The highway patrol investigated the accident, and reports officer Strickland was wearing a seat belt.
The Henry County Sheriff’s office continued the pursuit, and made an arrest on a road behind the county airport. 28 year old Ricky Rye, Jr. of Napoleon will likely be charged with Breaking and Entering; and is being held at the regional jail.
The Henry County Sheriff’s office is also investigating a suspicious fire reported around this morning. A resident on South East Street in McClure reported a wooden flower pot on their back deck caught fire, and burned into the deck, and also caught the back of the house on fire. There was damage to the structure reported, and the state fire marshall’s office has been called-in, since it looks like the blaze was intentionally set.
