SUNDAY THUNDERSTORM CAUSES FIRE

 

A Sunday night thunderstorm that rolled through Northwest Ohio is likely the cause of a fire that struck in Delta.   The Fulton County Sheriff’s office reports a lightning strike is believed to have brought a live electric wire down onto a house at 315 Wood Street in Delta just after 9pm Sunday.   That sparked a blaze that totally destroyed the rental property, and made several families homeless.   Fire crews from Delta, Swanton, Wauseon and Metamora were all on the scene into the early hours of the morning.  No injuries were reported in the blaze.

 

The Henry County Sheriff’s office investigated an injury crash at 1:55am Saturday morning on state route 18 in Marion Township.  23 year old Heather Eickmeier of Malinta lost control of her auto, and rolled it through a ditch, and out into a field, where it landed on its top.  Eickmeier was transported to the Henry County Hospital; and was cited for Failure to Control.

 

The highway patrol investigated a couple of injury accidents in the region on Sunday.  At 9:16am yesterday, two cars collided at the intersection of U.S. 127 and county road 20-N in Williams County.  76 year old Myrtle VanArsdalen of West Unity sustained injuries; and was transported by Life Flight to the University of Toledo Medical Center.  And 78 year old Mary Randall of Fayette was taken to the Fulton County Health Center.

 

The Toledo Post of the highway patrol was dispatched to a crash Sunday at 3:33pm on Fulton County road M, near road 7.  19 year old Trenton Shindorf of Delta was passing a motorcycle, when that motorcycle driver, 42 year old David Roe of Delta attempted a left turn.  David Roe was ejected from the bike; and suffered critical injuries.  He was taken by Life Flight to St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.   Troopers report Roe was not wearing a helmet.   Shindorf was not injured.   The Fulton County Sheriff’s office assisted at the scene, along with Delta Fire and Rescue.

 

The Henry County Sheriff’s office investigated a couple of break-ins reported over the weekend.  Some items were stolen from the concession stand on Keyser Street in Holgate Friday morning.

            And a resident on road 2 in Richfield Township reported some farm equipment was stolen from a barn on Friday morning.

                        A theft sent deputies to a business along state route 110 east of Napoleon on Friday afternoon, where an I-pad was stolen.

And the sheriff’s office investigated criminal damage at 203 North Wilhelm Street in Holgate Sunday morning, where some tires were slashed.

           

Napoleon Police investigated an assault reported Friday afternoon at a business in the 1800 block of Oakwood Avenue.

            An arrest was made Friday night, when 38 year old Holly Gill of Fayette was picked-up on a warrant for Failing to Appear in Court.  Gill was transported to the regional jail.

Friday night at 11:34pm, Napoleon officers arrested 24 year old Ronald Bomler of Napoleon at 523 High Street, charging him with Assault.   A narcotics charges is also pending at that location.  Bomler was transported to CCNO.

A theft was reported at 1815 Scott Street Saturday night.

            33 year old Nicole Tipton of Napoleon was arrested on a warrant from Fulton County early Saturday morning.

30 year old Johnny Browning of Napoleon was arrested on a warrant from Napoleon Municipal Court; and was taken to the regional jail at 12:30am Sunday.

And Napoleon Police made an arrest Sunday afternoon on Bradford Avenue, where 19 year old Chance Roberts of Napoleon was charged with Illegal Use of a Minor in Nudity oriented Material.  Roberts was issued a summons to court.
